Last month we went on a family vacation to Honolulu, Hawaii and I’m really excited to share with you the places we dined at. This is the first post of our trip to Honolulu.
After a 7 hour flight, we were ready to stretch our legs and get off the cramped airplane filled with many cranky babies and kids who were just as eager as we were to start their vacation. By the time we left the airport, picked up the rental car and checked into the hotel it was already mid afternoon and we were starving! I obviously wanted sushi but there was no way Hubby was going to agree to that. He wanted something meaty and greasy so we settled for Teddy’s Bigger Burgers. This place wasn’t on my list of must visit restaurants but the reviews seemed decent and it wasn’t your typical fast food chain.
Considering that lunch time had passed the place was quite busy and there was a long line to the counter. I gave Hubby my order and sat down with the baby. While I was waiting for him to bring us our food, one of the staff members came around and handed out wet naps to everyone. How thoughtful! I guess that’s an indication that the burgers are going to be messy.
Hubby ordered the Original Burger Combo $9.99. I didn’t taste his burger but did sample his fries. They were hot and crispy and although nothing really to rave about I did appreciate that they still had the skins on them.
I had the Hawaiian Style Burger $5.59. What’s an Hawaiian style burger? It’s the Original burger with the addition of two grilled pineapple slices. Upon first bite, I immediately tasted the char from the grilled patty and pineapple. The patty was cooked to a medium and was still juicy and moist. The pineapple slices added a welcomed sweetness and I thoroughly enjoyed this burger.
Hubby was in the mood for a shake so he upgraded his combo for an extra $3.40. Admittedly I’m not a huge shake person but Teddy’s Mint Chocolate Extra Thick Shake was pretty good. It was really really thick, basically impossible to drink through the straw so we ended up scooping it up with the straw and eating it that way.
Overall, Teddy’s is a pretty good burger place and I’d eat here again. It does take a while for them to make the burgers though so don’t go when you’re starving like us or it will seem like an eternity before you get your food.
