We recently returned from a vacation in Honolulu, Hawaii and I was exhausted after our return with no motivation to cook. Hubby wanted to order pizza but since our favorite neighborhood joint was closed we opted for Indian food.
I’ve ordered takeout from this small hole in the wall Indian Restaurant before and was never disappointed. They offer delicious authentic curries for very reasonable prices.
Hubby is a huge fan of lamb so one of the dishes we ordered was the Lamb Rogan Josh $8.99. The lamb was tender and the curry was extremely flavorful.
The Chicken Vindaloo $8.99 was hubby’s favorite and it was super spicy. Like level 10 spicy! We loved it and the more our mouths burned, the more we ate.
Mattar Paneer $7.99 is one of those dishes that I always order whenever we have Indian food. I just love the sweetness from the peas and the fresh paneer cheese. I found that the sweetness of this dish helped to tame some of the other spicier curry dishes.
Bhartha $7.99 was my favorite out of all four. I was expecting eggplant chunks but it turned out to be more of a puree but I loved it none the less. The dish was so creamy from the eggplant and was perfect for eating with rice and dipping with naan.
Of course, we had to have some Plain Naan $1.50 to mop up the delicious curries. This naan had a nice chewy texture to it but it became very hard and tough when it cooled down.
Overall, this place serves up great Indian food for really reasonable prices. We usually just do take out but they have a few tables in the restaurant if you wanted to dine in. Note of caution when placing your order in over the phone – make sure they completely understand which dish you want because there is a bit of a language barrier. They’ve never messed up my order but I have had to repeat myself many times or describe the dish to them before they knew what I wanted.
